Beowulf Internship Program
Beowulf Defense and Security offers independent and guided research internships to university students interested in a broad range of domestic and international defense and security topics. These internships are designed to bolster students' understanding of how government, law enforcement agencies, and private industry make the necessary decisions to mitigate risks from threats ranging from terrorism to overt acts of war.
Eligibility
A candidate must be a graduate student; an undergraduate student; or have graduated from college within 12 months of beginning the internship.
General Information
Interns are expected to complete between three (3) to six (6) whitepaper quality essays (dependent on the length of the internship period) in a general field of research (Independent Research) or a specific assigned field (Guided Research), and are encouraged to produce as many additional essays as they wish. These essays will be published in Beowulf’s publicly available journal, and may be republished elsewhere at the discretion of Beowulf’s management team. Interns will be credited in these works as a way to enhance their professional portfolio. All interns are subject to the applicable employee rules and code of conduct guidelines.
Application Procedures
Candidates must complete an application form and submit it with their cover letter and resume. Some internship positions require additional application items, such as a writing sample. All application items must be submitted as a complete package. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
Beowulf does not ordinarily offer internships for academic credit; however interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made with the intern's college or university. This is the responsibility of the internship candidate to facilitate this.
